DOES THE COLOR RUN BENEFIT GULLEDGE ELEMENTARY?

The Gulledge Color Run is the primary fundraiser for the Gulledge Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA) this year. The money raised will fund a variety of programs to support the school’s curriculum including new enriching field trips, assemblies, social activities, field day and teacher wish lists. We also want to promote a healthy lifestyle for our students and families.  The Gulledge Color Run is a great way to combine these two missions. Color Run marks the beginning of student’s favorite Gulledge Gatorthon.

IS THE COLOR POWDER SAFE?

Safety is a major priority. The colors are made with high quality cornstarch and food dyes. All the ingredients are 100% FD&C and/or D&C grade and approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Color is not designed for consumption. Please view the Safety Data Sheets. As with any foreign substance, eye protection is important and our volunteers will aim to throw color below the neck as the runners pass. Some Color Runners may opt to wear sunglasses or goggles for their eyes and use a bandana or dust mask for their mouths. Keep in mind this is a kid friendly event and the amount of color will be appropriate for fun, not overwhelming or scary.

IS IT HARMFUL IF YOU INHALE IT?

Although all the materials are food grade, it is not recommended to inhale large quantities of color powder. Anyone who has asthma, is allergic to any of the ingredients or has any respiratory issues should exercise caution when participating in the Color Run.

DOES COLOR POWDER STAIN CLOTHING?

The color powder washes out of most clothing. However, it can stain some materials. It is recommended to wear 100% cotton clothing. Typical machine washing with stain remover should remove the stains. Remove excess powder from clothing before washing and/or applying water. The color does mostly wash out after the event. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better. Participants and attendees should wear items that they do not mind getting colorful.  FULL color cleaning ideas and tips.

DOES COLOR POWDER STAIN SKIN OR HAIR?

Just as with clothing, it is recommended to shake off excess powder before exposing to water. Normal soap and water should remove color powder from skin and hair. Some color does tend to linger for a few days, especially on blonde hair. If you are worried about staining, consider applying a moisturizer to skin and coating your hair with a small amount of coconut or olive oil before the event.

ARE CAMERAS AND PHONES SAFE TO HAVE IN THE COLOR STATIONS?

To be totally safe, cover cameras/phones with a protective dust wrap. Those colorful powder particles are sneaky and Gulledge PTA is not liable for any damage that might be done to your camera!

HOW DOES THE COLOR AFFECT THE INSIDE OF CARS?

It is recommended to bring some towels for the insides of your cars.
